Florida

I won't say much about my stay because I was housed with family the entire time and it has nothing to do with my trip. I just want to comment on how miserable some people are and how they need to share their misery. My sister and mother live in Cemetery Village, I mean Century Village. Pets aren't allowed in most places. There was one woman who would stare out the window for me to take Guy outside and then jump on me if we strayed outside of our area. One morning at about 5:30 AM during our jog we were stopped by security who told me that Guy wasn't allowed to jog with me since we were on "common areas" where dogs weren't allowed.

Am I the only one who thinks that arbitrary rules and the accompanying "If you see something, say something" is just another step along the way to the totalitarianism toward which we are heading?

Well, I am off at zero dark thirty in the morning headed to the Big Apple for a job interview on Tuesday. And the trek resumes.

The Heartlands

Not much to say. Iowa has the best rest stops I've ever seen if you have a dog. A couple of them had dog areas that were a couple of acres. At one, there was a fence with Bison on the other side. Guy SO wanted to go "play" with them. LOL. I squelched his enthusiasm so they wouldn't squelch his tiny behind (not that it's THAT tiny...just to Bison.)

Going through St Louis was one of the most depressing times of my life. O well, the circle of life and all that.

I actually stopped at White Springs Florida for gas before I realized where I was. White Springs is the Home of the Florida Folk Festival and holds very fond memories for me. Maybe more on that at a later post. This is a "survival" story of my trip, not the story of my life.

Wyoming

It really is a beautiful state. Last night was "interesting." In the state of Wyoming I-80 reaches its maximum elevation of 8,640 feet and I got there just around midnight. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! There were cross winds reaching up to 65 miles per hour that were blowing snow across the highway. My vertigo really kicked in when there were white out conditions all around me but if I looked up I could see the mountains around me and a bright black sky with brilliant stars. Up seemed down and there was no down. I stopped at the Welcome to Wyoming rest stop where there was WiFi and Guy and I hunkered down for the night. Thank dog for warm sleeping bags.
