why I hike

I can't tell you how boring and useless it seems when you have nothing to do, no place to stay, and no place to go. I've watched the "real" homeless walk aimlessly around town, meeting with each other, just standing there. It's no wonder that they drink and do drugs. It helps minimize the pain of loneliness and nothingness.

But as long as I have "somewhere to go" and "something to do" no matter how made up it is, I'm not "really" homeless and I have something in the future to have hope in and I can pretend.

Pretend is nice.
